Gabriele Gravina resigned as head of the Italian Soccer Federation after Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup for the third consecutive time.
He had led the federation since 2018 and faced pressure from the government following the playoff loss to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
An extraordinary assembly is scheduled for June 22 to elect his successor, while Gravina will report to parliament on April 8 about the state of Italian soccer.
