FIA Introduces New Load Tests to Address 'Flexi-Wings' Ahead of 2025 Formula One Season

Posted : 31 January 2025

The FIA will introduce enhanced load tests on front and rear wings in Formula One to prevent bodywork flexibility from becoming a controversy in the 2025 season.

Starting from the Australian Grand Prix in March, rear wing tests will be more stringent, while additional front wing tests will begin at the Spanish Grand Prix in June.

The phased approach is designed to allow teams to adjust without discarding existing components, aiming to ensure fair racing.

This shift comes after the FIA initially stated no changes were planned to the front wing tests, marking a reversal of their stance following increased scrutiny over aero-elasticity issues in the sport.
