Alpine Appoints Steve Nielsen as Managing Director After Oakes Exit

Renault-owned Alpine has appointed former sporting director Steve Nielsen to manage the daily operations of its Formula One team following the resignation of team principal Oliver Oakes.

 
Nielsen, who will assume the role of managing director on September 1, previously held key roles at the FIA and during Renault’s championship-winning seasons in 2005 and 2006.

 
 Alpine, currently last in the constructors' standings and set to switch to Mercedes engines next year, also named ex-Ferrari aerodynamicist Kris Midgley as head of aero development.
