Madonna, Shakira and BTS to Headline Historic World Cup Final Half-Time Show

Music icons Madonna, Shakira and K-pop sensation BTS are set to headline the first-ever half-time show at a FIFA World Cup final this summer.
The tournament, jointly hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico, will conclude with the final in New Jersey on 19 July. The half-time performance is expected to follow a Super Bowl-style format and is understood to last around 11 minutes.
The introduction of a half-time entertainment show marks a significant shift for the World Cup, where pre-match performances have traditionally been preferred over mid-game spectacles. While reports suggested the interval could be extended beyond the standard 15-minute break permitted under football regulations, organisers are expected to keep the event within an acceptable timeframe.
Shakira is also preparing to release the tournament’s official World Cup song, Dai Dai, featuring Nigerian star Burna Boy. The Colombian singer previously became closely associated with the tournament after releasing Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Meanwhile, Madonna is preparing for the release of her upcoming album Confessions II in July. The pop legend recently drew attention with a surprise appearance during Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella performance, where the pair performed some of Madonna’s classic hits together.
BTS, widely regarded as the most successful music group in South Korean history, are continuing their global comeback after completing mandatory military service. The seven-member band will reportedly perform during a break in their extensive world tour schedule.
The half-time show is being curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay and is expected to support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aiming to raise millions for children’s education projects worldwide.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino previously described the planned performance as a historic addition befitting the scale and global appeal of the World Cup final.
