A significant search operation is ongoing in Colombia to locate the father of Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, with authorities offering a £40,000 reward for information leading to his rescue. Over 120 soldiers and police personnel, backed by drones, helicopters, and aircraft with radar, are combing northern Colombia to find Luis Manuel Diaz, who was reportedly abducted along with his wife by armed individuals on motorcycles at a gas station in Barrancas, their hometown.

Diaz's mother, Cilenis Marulanda, was discovered in Barrancas. Liverpool dedicated their 3-0 Premier League win against Nottingham Forest to Diaz, with manager Jurgen Klopp stating they had won "for our brother." Players, including Diogo Jota, showed their support for Diaz during the match.

The situation has garnered attention from Colombia's highest authorities, with President Gustavo Petro indicating that all public forces are actively involved in the search effort. General William Rene Salamanca, the director of the National Police, announced a reward of "up to 200m pesos" (about £40,000) for information about Diaz's father. Attorney General Francisco Barbosa informed Diaz that there is information suggesting his father may be in Venezuela, a situation that would require intervention by President Petro.

Liverpool expressed their awareness of the ongoing situation and emphasized that Diaz's welfare remains their immediate priority.
