Lakers’ Luka Dončić Announces Split From Fiancée Amid Custody Battle

Posted : 12 March 2026

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić has confirmed he has ended his engagement with Anamaria Goltes, his fiancée since 2023. The 27-year-old guard also faces a custody dispute over their two young daughters, Gabriela and Olivia. Speaking to ESPN, Dončić said the decision was difficult but necessary, emphasizing that everything he does is for his daughters’ happiness and well-being.

The situation intensified earlier this week when reports emerged that Goltes had filed a petition seeking child support and attorney fees in California. According to sources, Dončić was unaware of the filing. The couple’s children have limited ties to the state, with Gabriela spending only a few months there last spring and Olivia having never been in the U.S. Dončić has consistently provided for his family and continues to cover all expenses for his daughters.

Dončić and Goltes first met in their youth and began dating in 2016, later becoming engaged in July 2023. Their first daughter, Gabriela, was born in the United States in November 2023 while Dončić was with the Dallas Mavericks. Their second daughter, Olivia, was born in December 2025 in Slovenia after Dončić had been traded to the Lakers.

Earlier this season, Dončić traveled to Slovenia to be present for Olivia’s birth, missing several Lakers games in December. Tensions arose when he attempted to bring Gabriela to the United States, leading to a brief police involvement at Kranj Maternity Hospital. Officials found no criminal wrongdoing by Dončić, who returned to the U.S. shortly after the incident.

Since then, Dončić has had very limited contact with his daughters, seeing them for only two days since joining the Lakers’ training camp in September. He filed an interim injunction with Slovenian courts in February seeking immediate visitation. Meanwhile, Goltes removed all photos of the couple from her social media accounts, fueling speculation about the relationship.

On the court, Dončić continues to excel in his first full season with the Lakers, averaging 32.5 points, 8.4 assists, and 7.8 rebounds per game. Los Angeles, with a 39-25 record, is preparing to host the Minnesota Timberwolves as the star guard balances professional success with personal challenges.
