Jed York Arrested in Ohio and Sentenced After Prostitution-Related Case

San Francisco 49ers owner and Leeds United and Rangers co-owner Jed York has been arrested in Ohio following a prostitution-related investigation. The 45-year-old pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools after prosecutors amended the original prostitution charge.

York was arrested on Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio, after an operation involving the East Palestine Police Department and the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. Court records indicate that he was initially accused of engaging in prostitution before the charge was reduced as part of a plea agreement.

The court sentenced York to one day in jail on each offence, with the terms running concurrently. He received credit for time already served and was ordered to pay fines totaling $1,150 — $150 for disorderly conduct and $1,000 for possessing criminal tools.

According to court documents cited by US media, York allegedly responded to an online advertisement posted by undercover officers and arranged a sexual encounter in exchange for $140. His mobile phone was cited in connection with the criminal-tools charge.

A no-contest plea under Ohio law allows a defendant to accept a conviction and sentence without formally admitting guilt. York was subsequently found guilty of the amended charges.

York's legal case could also have implications within the NFL. The league has confirmed that it is aware of the matter and will review it under its personal conduct policy. The 49ers, meanwhile, said the legal matter had been resolved and declined to provide further comment.

York's Role at Rangers and Leeds
York is involved in the ownership of both Rangers and Leeds through 49ers Enterprises, the investment arm associated with the San Francisco 49ers. The US consortium led by businessman Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises completed its takeover of Rangers in 2025 after acquiring a controlling 51% stake.
York is not involved in the daily operation of Rangers. The club, along with Leeds United, has declined to comment on the case.
49ers Enterprises first invested in Leeds United in 2018 while the club was in the Championship. Its involvement increased over the following years before the group assumed full control of the club in 2023.
