Posted : 21 January 2026

Day 3 of the World Table Tennis Series – WTT Contender Muscat 2026 featured high-stakes preliminary matches as players competed to secure their places in the main draw at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Oman. The event attracted around 200 athletes from over 30 countries, reflecting the growing international prominence of Oman as a host for elite table tennis competitions.

The preliminary rounds were full of thrilling contests and standout performances. In the men’s singles qualifiers, Manush Shah of India delivered a solid performance to book his place in the main draw. On the women’s side, Ayhika Mukherjee also advanced after overcoming tough opponents, while other Indian paddlers, including Payas Jain, Diya Chitale, and Yashaswini Ghorpade, fought hard but fell just short in the final qualifying matches.

Throughout the day, both experienced players and emerging talents displayed their skills in fast-paced, intense rallies, highlighting the depth of competition. These results now set the stage for the main draw, where seeded players will meet successful qualifiers in the battle for ranking points and prize money.

Local Omani competitors also gained valuable experience, with some advancing while others were eliminated. Many displayed resilience and skill in tightly contested matches, providing an encouraging sign for the development of table tennis in the region.

As the tournament progresses, attention shifts to the main draw, where marquee matchups are expected to draw the focus of fans. With the competition continuing over the coming days, the atmosphere in Muscat remains electric as athletes compete for glory on this ITTF-sanctioned international stage.
