Posted : 14 February 2024

Grand Slam champions Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki are set to make comebacks at the Indian Wells tournament next month after receiving wild cards. Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam winner, last played at the 2023 US Open, where she faced an early exit.

The 43-year-old American will return to Indian Wells for the first time since 2019, aiming to recapture her form. Meanwhile, Wozniacki, a former world No. 1 and Australian Open champion, will make her appearance after a five-year hiatus, following her comeback to the circuit in 2023.

Venus Williams, known for her illustrious tennis career, experienced a setback with an early exit from the US Open in the first round against Greet Minnen. Her return to Indian Wells, where she reached the quarterfinals in 2019, presents an opportunity for the tennis veteran to showcase her prowess on the court once again. The wild card entry adds anticipation to her participation in the BNP Paribas Open.

Caroline Wozniacki, the former world No. 1 and Australian Open champion in 2018, took a three-year break from tennis after the birth of her two children. Making a comeback in 2023, she reached the fourth round of the US Open and the second round of the Australian Open last month.

Wozniacki's return to Indian Wells, where she previously triumphed in 2011, adds to the excitement of the tournament, highlighting her determination and resilience on the court.

The BNP Paribas Open, scheduled at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden from March 6-17, will feature the return of these esteemed Grand Slam champions, creating anticipation among fans eager to witness their performances in this prestigious event.
