Ugo Humbert was pleasantly surprised to spot Paris St-Germain’s star forward Ousmane Dembele cheering from the stands during his first-round victory over Christopher O’Connell at Roland Garros. The French footballer, fresh off an unbeaten Ligue 1 title win and a recent French Cup triumph with PSG, seemed to bring Humbert a stroke of good luck.
After his straight-sets win, Humbert expressed his admiration for Dembele, calling him one of his favorite players and praising his impressive season.
Humbert revealed that he hadn’t initially noticed Dembele’s presence until he heard supporters urging the PSG star to bring home the Champions League trophy. The tennis player then had the chance to meet Dembele, who gifted him a jersey that Humbert proudly keeps in his locker.
With the Champions League final set for Saturday against Inter Milan, Humbert said he plans to watch the match on TV wearing that very jersey, hoping to share in the football team’s success.
Meanwhile, French 14th seed Arthur Fils mentioned he would travel to Munich to support PSG if he exits Roland Garros before the weekend.
Fils also said he would ask tournament organizers not to schedule him for a late match on Saturday, to ensure he can attend or at least follow the Champions League final comfortably. Both players seem eager to back their country’s football giants as they chase Europe’s most coveted club prize.
