Iga Swiatek moved a step closer to making history at Indian Wells by securing a dominant 6-0, 6-2 victory over Dayana Yastremska in the third round. The world No. 2 displayed complete control from the outset, winning the first 10 games and never facing a break point.
Converting six of 11 break opportunities, Swiatek wrapped up the match in just 65 minutes, reinforcing her dominance at the tournament where she has already claimed titles in 2022 and 2024. She now stands on the verge of becoming the first woman to win three Indian Wells championships.
Elsewhere in the tournament, Tallon Griekspoor continued his impressive run by following up his upset of world No. 2 Alexander Zverev with a 7-6 (7/3), 6-3 win over France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. The Dutchman delivered 10 aces and controlled the tiebreaker after an early exchange of breaks. In the second set, he broke his opponent to take a 5-2 lead and closed out the match on his second match point.
Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev faced Southern California native Alex Michelsen in his bid to reach a third consecutive final, with the winner set to meet 10th seed Tommy Paul, who overcame 2021 champion Cameron Norrie in straight sets.
Sunday’s action also featured several marquee matchups, including Stefanos Tsitsipas taking on Matteo Berrettini in a rematch of their recent Dubai quarterfinal, which Tsitsipas won en route to the title. On the women’s side, rising Russian star Mirra Andreeva, fresh off her historic WTA 1000 title in Dubai, faced Denmark’s Clara Tauson—the same player she defeated in that final. With the competition intensifying, both the men’s and women’s draws continue to deliver thrilling battles at Indian Wells.
