Nigeria’s top seed, Success Ogunjobi, has secured her place in the finals of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors J30 tournament at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, with a commanding performance.
Ogunjobi defeated Zimbabwe’s Rutendo Tom 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals, dominating from start to finish with confidence, precision, and controlled aggression to seal a straight-sets victory.
The young Nigerian will now aim to lift the title on home soil in Saturday’s final, determined to cap off a stellar tournament.
In other semifinals action, Ohunene Yakubu overcame fellow Nigerian Khadijat Mohammed 6-1, 6-3, while Benjamin James battled past the USA’s David Beckles 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 to reach the finals. Spain’s Javier Montes defeated Nigeria’s Edwards Omozokpia 6-2, 7-5, rounding out the remaining final spots.
The week-long event, organised by the Tiger Tennis Foundation, has attracted strong interest from fans, showcasing rising tennis talent across the region and providing crucial ranking points and exposure for young players.
Reflecting on her achievement, Ogunjobi said:
