Stefanos Tsitsipas Ends Title Drought with Swiss Open Triumph in Gstaad

Stefanos Tsitsipas returned to the winner's circle on Sunday by defeating Belgium's Raphael Collignon in the Swiss Open final in Gstaad. The Greek star battled through three sets to earn a 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-3 victory, securing his 13th ATP Tour singles title and ending a title drought that had lasted nearly a year and a half.

The triumph marks Tsitsipas' first tournament victory since lifting the Dubai title in early 2025. Once ranked as high as world No. 3, the 27-year-old has slipped to No. 85 after a difficult run of form. Despite his recent struggles, he remains one of the most accomplished players of his generation, having reached Grand Slam finals at the French Open in 2021 and the Australian Open in 2023, while also winning the ATP Finals in 2019 and claiming three Monte Carlo Masters crowns.

Collignon, ranked 42nd in the world, was competing in his first ATP Tour final after an impressive week in Switzerland. The 24-year-old booked his place in the championship match by saving a match point in a dramatic semifinal victory over Argentina's Juan Manuel Cerundolo, continuing his breakthrough season despite falling short in the final.

Speaking ahead of the final, Tsitsipas highlighted the determination shared by both finalists, saying each player was prepared to give everything for the title. He promised an aggressive approach on court, and his resilience over three sets ultimately delivered another milestone victory as he begins rebuilding his place among the ATP Tour's elite.
