Record Numbers Set for Second Edition of Amazons Tennis Tournament in Lagos

The Amazons Tennis Tournament is preparing for its highly anticipated second edition after a successful debut. Registration for the upcoming event closed in just ten days due to overwhelming interest from players. Over 120 women have officially signed up to compete in this year’s competition.

Organizers have aligned the event with International Women’s Month to highlight the "GIVETOGAIN" theme. This timing adds a deeper layer of significance to the athletic performances on the court. The tournament aims to celebrate the resilience and strength of women through the medium of sport.

This competition has earned a reputation as the largest recreational tennis event for women across the African continent. It draws participants from more than 25 different recreational tennis clubs situated throughout Lagos. The tournament is scheduled to take place on March 28, 2026. The historic Lagos Lawn Tennis Club in Onikan will serve as the host venue for the matches. This location was established in 1895 and remains one of the most iconic sporting landmarks in Nigeria.

The local tennis community is already buzzing with excitement as the match day approaches. Fans and athletes alike are counting down the hours until the first serve at the Onikan facility. The event represents a unique fusion of high-level recreational competition and community celebration.
