Razaki Earns Africa’s Top-Eight Spot, Heads to Kazakhstan for U-12 Championship

Posted : 10 October 2026

Nigeria’s rising tennis talent, Mabubat Adenike Razaki, is set to showcase her skills on the international stage after earning selection among Africa’s eight best players in the under-12 category.

The Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) selected the Oyo State-born youngster to represent the continent at the ATF U-12 Intercontinental Tennis Championship, scheduled for Kazakhstan from October 10 to 18, 2026.

Razaki’s selection followed her impressive performances at local and international competitions, where she demonstrated the technical ability, tactical awareness, and consistency that have distinguished her among players in her age group.

Her achievement also highlights the Nigeria Tennis Federation’s (NTF) efforts to identify, nurture, and support emerging talents through participation in domestic and international competitions.

The federation has closely monitored Razaki’s development, providing support that has helped her gain valuable competitive experience and earn recognition among Africa’s leading young players.

The 12-year-old is expected to depart Nigeria on Friday for Kazakhstan, where she will join seven other African players for the prestigious intercontinental championship.

The competition will provide Razaki with an opportunity to test her abilities against some of the finest young players from other continents while gaining further international exposure.

Her selection represents another encouraging development for Nigerian junior tennis, with her composure, technical skills, and tactical intelligence marking her out as a player to watch.

The achievement comes amid renewed efforts to strengthen tennis development in Nigeria under the leadership of NTF Chairman Victor Ochei.

Razaki will now look to translate her continental recognition into a strong performance in Kazakhstan as she continues her development in the sport.
