The organisers of the 5th Odi Olowo Chairman’s Cup have announced an improved prize pool of N5.5 million naira, promising an even more exciting tournament in 2025.
Chairman of Odi Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, Mr. Rasaq Ajala, revealed that the increased budget includes appearance fees for all participating clubs, with this year’s edition to be staged at the newly constructed mini-stadium in the community, a promise made during last year’s edition.
Seyi Jakande, Vice Chairman and APC chairmanship candidate in the upcoming Lagos State Local Government Elections, has also pledged his support for the continuity of the competition if elected into office.
A total of 50 clubs from various local governments in Lagos State will compete across five categories, with the finals set for September 2025.
Speaking on the objectives, Azeez Mustapha, the tournament coordinator, emphasized that the Chairman’s Cup is rooted in youth engagement, especially during the long school holidays.
According to Mustapha, over 700 players will participate, and the event has consistently fostered both community bonding and talent development in the area.
“The Odi Olowo Chairman’s Cup hasn’t derailed from its founding purpose is to create a vibrant, engaging, and talent-filled community competition,” Mustapha said.
