Nigeria’s Seun Ogunsakin continued his impressive run at the J200 Cairo World Tennis Tour Juniors tournament in Egypt, booking a place in the final with a convincing straight-set victory over home player Mohamed Genidy.
The Nigerian youngster demonstrated composure and attacking quality to overcome Genidy 6-4, 6-2 in Thursday’s semi-final, strengthening his prospects of securing another significant milestone on the international junior circuit.
Ogunsakin’s victory represents an important breakthrough in his recent campaign, having reached a J200 final for the first time in several months.
The Aurum Tennis Academy player is part of the Grand Slam Players Development Project (GSPDP) touring team currently competing in Africa, an initiative aimed at nurturing promising young players and preparing them for higher levels of international competition.
His impressive performances in Cairo also provide valuable preparation ahead of future international assignments, particularly the 2027 Australian Open Junior Championships, where he is expected to represent Nigeria alongside compatriot Ikenna Prosper Okonkwo.
With a place in the final secured, Ogunsakin will now seek to complete his impressive campaign by converting his semi-final success into a tournament title, further strengthening Nigeria’s presence on the international junior tennis circuit.
