The 46th edition of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Senior National Tennis Championship continues to deliver thrilling action as top contenders in the men’s singles event make their mark. Held in Lagos, the 2025 tournament has witnessed a blend of seasoned players and rising stars battling for national glory.
Defending champion Daniel Adeleye showcased his resilience in a tightly contested second-round match against Ajang Sylvanus, emerging victorious with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win to secure his place in the next round. Rising star Seun Ogunsakin impressed with a commanding 6-1, 6-3 win over Kwanje Elisha, underlining his growing reputation on the national circuit.
Elsewhere, Endurance Ehigiemusoe booked a spot in the third round with a hard-fought 7-6, 6-1 win against Morakinyo Akinwale, while Ibrahim Suleiman overcame Ezekiel Azi 6-2, 7-5 to also advance. Emmanuel Michael dominated Akeem Azeez in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, while former champion Thomas continued his strong form this season by defeating Akagha Paul 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in their second-round clash.
Some matches were delayed due to early morning rain, with several second-round fixtures still ongoing at the time of reporting. Meanwhile, the men's and women's doubles competitions commenced on Monday and are set to continue today as the tournament gains momentum.
