Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has confirmed he will not participate in this year's Wimbledon due to a setback in his ongoing recovery from injury. The 30-year-old, who reached the Wimbledon final in 2022 before losing to Novak Djokovic, has struggled with consistent fitness issues, particularly a wrist injury that required surgery and kept him off the court for most of the past two seasons.
Earlier this year, Kyrgios made a brief return at the Miami Open, where he secured his first singles win since 2022. However, he soon withdrew from the French Open due to a knee problem, dashing hopes of a sustained comeback during the clay and grass seasons. His absence from Wimbledon adds to a string of missed opportunities as he attempts to regain top form.
In a message shared on Instagram, Kyrgios expressed regret over the latest setback, saying he’s already focused on recovery and aims to return stronger. He thanked fans for their continued support and acknowledged their anticipation for his return, calling this injury pause a “bump in the road.” Wimbledon is set to begin on 30 June, but the charismatic Australian will once again be watching from the sidelines.
