Naomi Osaka delivered an impressive performance on Thursday to book her place in the semi-finals of the Bad Homburg Open, strengthening her preparations for Wimbledon with a convincing straight-sets victory over Ekaterina Alexandrova.
The Japanese star, seeded sixth at the tournament, needed less than an hour to secure a 6-2, 6-2 win against the Russian. Osaka's dominant display highlighted her growing confidence on grass just days before the start of the year's third Grand Slam.
Despite conceding an early break in the opening set, Osaka responded immediately and quickly seized control of the match. The former world number one reeled off eight consecutive games, including a remarkable streak of 15 straight points, to take command of the contest and leave her opponent struggling to find answers.
Her momentum continued into the second set as she raced into a 3-0 lead. Although Alexandrova managed to steady herself briefly by holding serve in her next two service games, Osaka remained firmly in control and closed out the match comfortably in just 59 minutes.
The victory sends the world number 15 into the final four of the prestigious Wimbledon warm-up event, where several leading contenders are sharpening their grass-court games ahead of the Championships.
Elsewhere in the tournament, fourth seed Karolina Muchova was scheduled to face Denmark's Clara Tauson, while American Emma Navarro prepared to take on Romania's Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the remaining quarter-final matches.
China's Wang Xinyu had already secured her semi-final berth after Ukraine's Elina Svitolina withdrew from the competition, citing exhaustion following her previous-round victory.
With her powerful serving and aggressive baseline game clicking into place, Osaka appears to be finding her rhythm at the perfect time as she looks to make a strong impact at Wimbledon.
