Mollie Marcoux Samaan to Step Down as LPGA Commissioner

Posted : 03 December 2024

Mollie Marcoux Samaan will step down as LPGA commissioner next month, after serving in the role since 2021, the LPGA Tour announced on Monday. Liz Moore, the LPGA's corporate secretary, will take over as interim commissioner until a permanent successor is appointed.

Marcoux Samaan reflected on her tenure, expressing pride in the LPGA's significant growth under her leadership. She highlighted the strategic initiatives put in place to drive growth and impact, along with the strengthened infrastructure that will support the tour's continued success in the years ahead.

During Marcoux Samaan's time as commissioner, the LPGA saw its largest period of growth, including a 90% increase in prize money and a substantial rise in player earnings, with the top 100 players earning more than $1 million by 2024.

The tour also reached record attendance levels in 2024, while the LPGA Foundation contributed to a surge in the number of women and girls playing golf. LPGA board chair John B. Veihmeyer expressed confidence that the organization is positioned for continued success following Marcoux Samaan's leadership.
