In a hard-fought battle, third seed Daniil Medvedev faced a tough challenge from Portugal's Nuno Borges but ultimately secured victory in four sets, with a final score of 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 6-1. Despite failing to convert two match points in the third set, Medvedev showcased resilience and determination to close out the match.

Reflecting on the match, Medvedev acknowledged Borges' efforts, stating, "He made me run [in the] third set." The Russian player advances to the Australian Open quarter-finals, where he is set to face ninth seed Hubert Hurkacz.

Meanwhile, ninth seed Hubert Hurkacz secured his spot in the quarter-finals by defeating wildcard Arthur Cazaux. Cazaux, who had previously caused an upset by defeating eighth seed Holger Rune, couldn't replicate his success against Hurkacz.

The Polish player emerged victorious with a score of 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, setting up a quarter-final clash with Daniil Medvedev in what promises to be an intriguing matchup at the Australian Open.
