Katie Boulter Advances in Mérida as Camila Osorio Retires, Extending Winning Streak

Posted : 26 February 2026

British tennis star Katie Boulter continued her impressive run on the WTA Tour by advancing to the quarterfinals of the Merida Open after her second‑round opponent, Camila Osorio, retired due to injury. The world No. 69 had already taken the first set 6‑3 in Mexico when Osorio called for medical attention and chose not to continue.

This result marks Boulter’s seventh straight victory in professional competition, building on her recent title win at the Ostrava Open earlier this month. With momentum on her side, the British number three now awaits either top seed Jasmine Paolini of Italy or Australia’s Priscilla Hon in Friday’s quarter‑finals.

After the match, Boulter expressed sympathy for her opponent, noting that seeing fellow players sidelined with injuries is never easy. She acknowledged the challenges players face with physical setbacks, having dealt with injuries herself, and wished Osorio well in her recovery.

Boulter’s strong form continues as she heads toward one of the year’s premier events. The Indian Wells Open, a WTA 1000 tournament in California, is set to begin on March 4, providing another opportunity for the Brit to build on her breakthrough season.
