Jannik Sinner Defeats Alex de Minaur to Reach Vienna Open Final

Posted : 25 October 2025
Jannik Sinner powered past Alex de Minaur in straight sets to reach his eighth final of 2025 at the Vienna Open.

Jannik Sinner continued his outstanding 2025 season with a dominant performance at the Vienna Open on Saturday, defeating Australia’s Alex de Minaur 6-3, 6-4 to book his place in the final. The victory marked Sinner’s 12th consecutive win over De Minaur and secured his eighth final appearance of the year.

The world number two will now face either Germany’s Alexander Zverev or Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in Sunday’s final as he aims to claim his fourth title of the season. Sinner has already lifted trophies at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the China Open in Beijing this year.

Still chasing Carlos Alcaraz in the race for the year-end No. 1 ranking, Sinner will head into next week’s Paris Masters full of confidence after another commanding week in Vienna. The Italian, who triumphed at this event in 2023, has yet to drop a set in this year’s edition and had not faced a single break point until his semifinal encounter.

Sinner began strongly, racing to a 4-0 lead in the opening set before De Minaur managed to break back. However, the Italian quickly regained control, closing out the set 6-3. In the second, De Minaur briefly threatened a comeback after breaking serve in the sixth game, but Sinner immediately responded and sealed the win 6-4.

The result extended Sinner’s winning streak on indoor hard courts to 20 matches, underlining his dominance on the surface. The 24-year-old appears to have fully recovered from the cramps that forced him to retire at the Shanghai Masters three weeks ago and now looks poised to end his stellar season with another major title.
