Jannik Sinner has confirmed that Swedish coach Magnus Norman will join his coaching team, replacing Darren Cahill following the conclusion of their successful partnership at the end of the 2026 season.
The Italian, currently ranked second in the world, announced the coaching change on Friday, bringing an end to his collaboration with Cahill, which began in June 2022. Norman will work alongside Simone Vagnozzi, who has also played an important role in Sinner's development.
The partnership between Sinner, Cahill and Vagnozzi helped transform the Italian into one of the leading players in men's tennis. During their time together, Sinner claimed five Grand Slam titles, reached the world number one ranking and established himself as a major rival to Spain's Carlos Alcaraz.
At 25, Sinner has already become Italy's most successful male tennis player. His achievements include becoming the first Italian man to win Wimbledon, a milestone he reached in 2025.
Paying tribute to Cahill, Sinner expressed gratitude for the Australian's commitment, guidance and belief in his abilities. He acknowledged that their relationship had contributed to his development both professionally and personally.
The Italian also emphasised that although their professional partnership would end, their friendship would remain. Cahill had previously considered leaving after the 2025 season but agreed to continue working with Sinner for another year.
Norman arrives with an impressive coaching background. The former Swedish tennis player reached number two in the world during his playing career and later established himself as a successful coach.
He is particularly recognised for guiding Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka to three Grand Slam titles, while also helping compatriot Robin Soderling reach two French Open finals. His experience working with elite players makes him an important addition to Sinner's coaching setup.
Meanwhile, Sinner has been sidelined since successfully defending his Wimbledon title in July because of a persistent knee injury. His absence has affected his position in the world rankings, with Germany's Alexander Zverev taking over the number one spot.
The Italian is expected to return to competitive action at the Six Kings Slam exhibition tournament in Saudi Arabia in December. However, he has decided against participating in the remaining ATP Tour tournaments this season.
With Norman preparing to take up his new role, Sinner will look to begin another successful chapter in his career while maintaining the standards established during his time working with Cahill and Vagnozzi.
