In a thrilling three-set battle, Gloria Samuel edged Toluwalashe Agunbiade 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Reflecting on his performance, Benjamin described his win over Mannelli as one of his toughest matches in the tournament. “I’m really happy to get this win. It wasn’t easy, but I stayed focused and followed my plan,” he said, adding that he hopes to build on this momentum as the tournament progresses.

Gbolahan, despite his loss to Mubarak, acknowledged his opponent’s superior play. “I tried my best today, but it was a tough match. Ganiu played really well and deserved the win,” he said, describing the tournament as a valuable learning experience and promising to return stronger in future competitions.

The second week of the tournament began on Monday at the Lagos Country Club, featuring young talents from various countries competing for top honours. The event provides a crucial platform for junior players to gain international exposure and improve their rankings.

Officials expressed satisfaction with the quality of play and sportsmanship, noting that the competition has allowed junior athletes to develop their skills while experiencing high-level international tennis. The tournament continues with more exciting singles and doubles encounters, with the finals scheduled for November 15.
