Elena Rybakina Reaches First National Bank Open Final

Second seed Elena Rybakina overcame a slow start to defeat fourth seed Coco Gauff in three sets and reach the National Bank Open final for the first time. The Kazakhstani recovered from a 7-5 opening-set loss to dominate the next two sets, winning 6-2, 6-2 and completing the comeback in two hours.

Gauff had appeared in control after breaking Rybakina in the 12th game to take the first set. However, Rybakina responded strongly in the second, breaking away midway through the set before carrying her momentum into the decider and securing another break to take command.

Rybakina will now face seventh seed Iga Swiatek in the final after the Polish player defeated Elina Svitolina in the other semifinal. The matchup sets up another meeting between two of the leading contenders at the Canadian tournament.
