Dan Evans, Petra Kvitova Among Wimbledon 2025 Wildcard Entries

Posted : 18 June 2025

Former British number one Dan Evans has been granted a wildcard into the men’s singles draw for Wimbledon 2025, offering him another chance to shine at the All England Club.

The 35-year-old, who recently climbed back into the world’s top 200, received the nod just two days after securing his most significant victory in two years. A former world number 21, Evans’ inclusion adds an experienced and familiar name to the British lineup for the tournament starting later this month.

Joining Evans among the wildcard recipients is Petra Kvitova, the Czech former world number two and two-time Wimbledon champion. Despite currently being ranked outside direct entry positions, the 34-year-old remains a fan favourite and is the only non-British player included in the initial list of wildcard entries announced on Wednesday.

Her return to Centre Court is expected to generate excitement, as she brings experience and pedigree to the draw. Wimbledon has also extended main draw invitations to promising British teenagers Mika Stojsavljevic, last year’s US Open girls’ champion, and Hannah Klugman, a recent French Open girls' finalist.

Their selection underlines the tournament’s continued commitment to nurturing young talent, offering them a grand stage to gain invaluable experience. These wildcards serve not only as recognition of their junior successes but also as a vote of confidence in their potential.

In addition, British players Jodie Burrage, Harriet Dart, Francesca Jones, and Heather Watson have all been handed wildcards. Their inclusion ensures a strong home presence in the tournament. However, the absence of French Open semi-finalist Lois Boisson from the list is a surprising omission.

As more wildcard announcements are expected in the coming days, attention remains on which other players might still secure a coveted place in the main draw.
