Cameron Norrie Storms into Los Cabos Open Semi-finals with Dominant Victory

Cameron Norrie continued his impressive resurgence by cruising into the semi-finals of the Los Cabos Open with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory over Australia's Bernard Tomic. The British fifth seed needed just 50 minutes to complete the quarter-final triumph, extending his winning run in Mexico to three straight-set victories after arriving at the tournament on a six-match losing streak.

Norrie will now face defending champion Denis Shapovalov in the last four after the Canadian secured his own straight-sets victory. The Brit acknowledged that Shapovalov has been playing with confidence and expects a difficult contest against the reigning champion, who has enjoyed considerable success in the tournament's conditions.

The former British number one has steadily rebuilt his confidence throughout the week. After easing past Aleksandar Kovacevic in the opening round, he recovered from an early deficit to defeat James Duckworth before delivering his most convincing display of the tournament against Tomic. Norrie admitted that securing his first win in Los Cabos was crucial in helping him rediscover his rhythm after a difficult spell on tour.

Against Tomic, Norrie was in complete control after the Australian held serve in the opening game. From that point onward, the Brit won the next 12 consecutive games, producing consistent returns, solid baseline play and relentless movement that gave his opponent little opportunity to recover.

Reflecting on the performance, Norrie said he was pleased with his level, highlighting the quality of his returning and his ability to stay composed during key points. He added that enjoying his tennis again has been an important factor in his recent improvement after admitting he had previously struggled with confidence and overtrained before his disappointing French Open campaign.

Elsewhere in the tournament, the other semi-final will feature Hong Kong's Coleman Wong and France's Arthur Gea, with both players reaching their first ATP Tour semi-final. Their breakthrough runs ensure there will be at least one first-time ATP finalist in Los Cabos.

Meanwhile, action continued at the Washington Open, where top seed Jessica Pegula recovered from losing the opening set to defeat Poland's Magdalena Frech and advance to the quarter-finals. Second seed Elina Svitolina also progressed after overcoming Uzbekistan's Polina Kudermetova in straight sets.
