Cameron Norrie Falls to Valentin Vacherot in Straight Sets at Paris Masters

Posted : 30 October 2025

Britain’s Cameron Norrie suffered a disappointing exit at the Paris Masters, losing in straight sets to Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot. The British number two, who had described his win over world number one Carlos Alcaraz in the previous round as the “biggest of his career,” was unable to maintain that form as he fell 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 to the rising Monegasque star.

Vacherot, who captured his first ATP title earlier this month by defeating his cousin Arthur Rinderknech at the Shanghai Masters, continued his fine run of form to advance to the quarter-finals. He will face either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Daniel Altmaier next.

Reflecting on the win, Vacherot said: “It was a really big performance. I’m happy with how I handled the pressure moments. Everything is clicking now — it’s the result of many years of hard work.”

The 26-year-old’s rapid rise has been remarkable. Ranked world number 204 in September, Vacherot entered the Paris Masters at world number 40 and has now beaten 10 of the 12 top-50 players he has faced this season — with Norrie, ranked 31st, the latest to fall.

Despite starting strongly and dropping just two points on serve in the opening set, Norrie failed to convert his only break point and eventually lost the first-set tie-break. In the second set, the Briton tried to rally the Paris crowd to his side but was met with boos. He then missed further chances to break at 2-2 before losing his own serve in the following game.

With momentum in his favour, Vacherot held firm, saving two more break points to move 5-3 ahead before sealing victory on his second match point when Norrie netted a forehand.
