One of Nigeria's foremost table tennis icons and an expert in sports ethics and integrity, Bose Kaffo, will conclude the year with a major event as she brings the first edition of the Sports Fiesta to Abaranje and its surrounding areas in Ikotun, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State on Tuesday, December 31.
The first African female table tennis player to compete in five different Olympics, Kaffo, through her Bose Kaffo Innovations, has planned this event to inspire a wave of sports development and excellence right at the grassroots level, where untapped talents abound.
The fiesta aims to create a unique holiday experience for the local community, featuring a table tennis competition. Additionally, basketball enthusiasts will have the chance to showcase their skills on the court. Kaffo has partnered with Zeniva Pharmacy to provide free medical support, including blood pressure and glucose tests. The first few participants to arrive at Irede Street, off Ile-Eja Road, the event venue, will also receive a free malaria test.
In celebration of the holiday season, Kaffo invites everyone to join this historic event, setting the right energy for the last day of 2024 as they usher in the new year. DJ Big Deal will provide music, adding to the vibrant atmosphere for residents and participants to enjoy the moment with the table tennis legend. Kaffo expressed her excitement, stating, "I'm really excited that Sports Fiesta is finally happening after years of planning." She emphasized the goal of igniting sports development at the grassroots level and revealed plans for future editions, saying, "It's not going to be a one-off. We are intentional about making this happen, and we seek more partnerships and sponsorships to elevate this strategic program."
