Ben Shelton Reaches National Bank Open Final

Defending champion Ben Shelton has reached the National Bank Open final again after producing a commanding 6-2, 6-3 victory over fellow American Learner Tien in Montreal. The fifth seed had previously lost both of his ATP meetings with Tien but reversed that record with a composed performance.

Shelton survived break points in his first two service games before taking control of the contest. He became increasingly effective on serve and matched Tien's baseline intensity, winning the longer rallies and completing the match in one hour and 24 minutes.

The 23-year-old remained unbeaten in sets throughout his run to the final, where he will face fellow American Brandon Nakashima. The match will produce the first all-American ATP Masters 1000 final since 2003.
