Aryna Sabalenka has once again been voted the WTA Player of the Year, marking her second consecutive season to receive the prestigious accolade.
The 27-year-old Belarusian dominated the tour, winning four titles—the most of any player this season—including successfully defending her US Open crown against Amanda Anisimova in September to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles title.
Throughout 2025, Sabalenka reached nine finals, more than any other player, with notable runner-up finishes to Madison Keys at the Australian Open and Coco Gauff at the French Open. She also captured titles at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May.
Her consistent excellence saw her maintain the world No. 1 ranking throughout the year, finishing 2025 atop the standings for a second straight season.
In a historic achievement, Sabalenka became the first player since Serena Williams in 2015 to surpass 12,000 WTA ranking points in July. She closed the season with a remarkable 63-12 win-loss record and earned a record £11 million in prize money.
Her dominance was further reflected in the voting, with nearly 80% of international tennis media selecting her for the honor.
Looking ahead, Sabalenka is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios on 28 December in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition, aiming to further promote women’s tennis on the global stage.
Other notable WTA awards for 2025 included Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic being named Comeback Player of the Year after returning from a 13-month maternity break, and 19-year-old Canadian Victoria Mboko earning Newcomer of the Year after climbing from outside the top 300 to world No. 18.
The doubles team of Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were recognized as Doubles Team of the Year, while Amanda Anisimova claimed Most Improved Player after reaching five finals.
In the men’s ATP circuit, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards, including Year-End No. 1, and Jannik Sinner was voted Fans’ Favourite for the third time.
