Aryna Sabalenka Devastated After Shock French Open Collapse Against Diana Shnaider

World number one Aryna Sabalenka suffered a dramatic meltdown at the French Open, crashing out in the quarter-finals against 25th seed Diana Shnaider. The Belarusian star appeared in total control on Court Philippe-Chatrier before enduring a staggering psychological collapse. She ultimately lost the match 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 after squandering a set and a double-break lead in the second set.

The top seed led 4-1 in the second set and stood just two points away from victory while serving at 5-4. However, Shnaider staged a fierce comeback by winning 12 of the final 13 games to secure her maiden Grand Slam semi-final spot. Sabalenka cut a deeply frustrated figure throughout the contest; she struggled immensely with the cold and breezy conditions in Paris.

Following the defeat, a sullen Sabalenka confessed that she felt an immediate urge to walk away from the sport. She noted that she wanted to destroy things to process her intense internal disappointment. The four-time major champion lamented her tendency to overthink and commit easy errors during critical moments.

Shnaider will now face Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska in an unexpected semi-final matchup. Chwalinska extended her remarkable underdog run at Roland Garros by upsetting 22nd seed Anna Kalinskaya 7-6, 6-3. This year's tournament has seen unprecedented chaos; defending champion Coco Gauff and top seed Iga Swiatek both exited early.

The men's draw also produced history as 10th seed Flavio Cobolli defeated fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Cobolli will meet fellow Italian Matteo Arnaldi, who advanced after Matteo Berrettini retired due to a hip injury. For the first time since 1977, the French Open semi-finals will feature no former Grand Slam champions in either draw.
