No fewer than 120 players have registered to participate in the second edition of the Amazons Tennis Tournament scheduled to take place later this month in Lagos.
The competition, which enjoyed a successful debut, has recorded a surge in participation this year, as registration slots were filled within just 10 days of opening, reflecting the growing popularity of the event among women tennis enthusiasts.
The tournament will hold on March 28, 2026, at the historic Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, with players from more than 25 recreational tennis clubs across Lagos expected to compete.
Organisers say the second edition is specially aligned with activities marking International Women’s Month and carries the theme “GIVETOGAIN,” highlighting the spirit of empowerment, support, and community among women through sport.
Widely regarded as the largest women’s recreational tennis tournament in Nigeria and across Africa, the Amazons Tennis Tournament continues to provide a vibrant platform for female players to showcase their talent while fostering friendship and healthy competition.
Clubs across Lagos are already rallying behind their representatives, with excitement building within the tennis community as players and fans eagerly anticipate the much-awaited event.
Beyond the competition, the Amazons Tennis Tournament stands as a celebration of women, resilience, and the unifying power of sport.
