Day 3 of the World Open in Yushan, China delivered high drama and significant moments as the tournament moved into the third round stage. With the competition intensifying, several top players were in action as they pushed for places in the latter stages of the ranking event, which runs from March 16 to 22.

One of the standout stories of the day came from snooker legend John Higgins, who reached a historic milestone by becoming the first player to compete in 2,000 professional matches. However, the occasion ended in disappointment as he suffered a narrow 5–4 defeat in a tightly contested encounter, underlining the competitive depth of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Ronnie O'Sullivan continued his campaign amid ongoing scrutiny of his form.
