Women’s Invitational T20I: All-round brilliance powers Zimbabwe to massive 180-run victory over Ghana

Posted : 26 March 2026

Zimbabwe Women’s U-19 delivered a ruthless all-round performance to overwhelm Ghana by 180 runs in a dominant outing at the ongoing fifth Nigeria Women’s Invitational T20I in Lagos.

Playing at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval, Zimbabwe took control from the outset after opting to bat, producing a commanding display with both bat and ball in the Patricia Kambarami Cup.

The opening pair of Nicollete Nyika and Beloved Biza set the tone early, putting Ghana under pressure with a rapid 52-run stand inside the first five overs. Although Nyika fell for a quickfire 20, Zimbabwe’s momentum never dipped.

Biza then anchored the innings with authority, blending aggression and composure to frustrate the Ghanaian attack. Even after Christina Mutasa’s dismissal for 29 in the middle overs, Zimbabwe remained firmly in control.

The innings peaked spectacularly as Biza powered her way to an unbeaten 102 off just 52 deliveries, while Lorraine Pemhiwa provided the perfect support with a fluent 60 not out from 32 balls, lifting Zimbabwe to an imposing total.

Ghana’s chase never gained traction, as Zimbabwe’s bowlers produced a disciplined and clinical performance. Wickets fell at regular intervals, leaving Ghana struggling throughout their innings before being bowled out for just 45 runs in 18.3 overs.

Salem Museka spearheaded the bowling attack with impressive figures of 4 for 8, while Biza capped off a memorable outing by claiming 3 for 10 to complete a brilliant all-round display.

Her outstanding contribution earned her the Player of the Match award, capping a performance that defined Zimbabwe’s dominance.

“I’m really happy to receive this award and glad I could help my team win,” Biza said.

“It was a great team effort, and I thank my teammates and coaches for their support.”

This victory cements Zimbabwe's status as a powerhouse in the tournament, showcasing a level of skill that Ghana simply could not match. The record-breaking century by Biza and the clinical bowling from Museka underline the depth of talent within the U-19 squad. As the competition progresses, Zimbabwe looks like the team to beat in the quest for the Patricia Kambarami Cup.
