Women’s Beach Soccer Adds Fresh Dimension to NBSL Super Four in Kaduna

The 2026 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) Super Four Finals will feature a women’s beach soccer tournament as part of a three-day championship scheduled for Sept. 18 to 20 at Murtala Muhammed Square in Kaduna.

The women’s competition is expected to provide a platform for female players to showcase their skills alongside the men’s Super Four, with matches scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. daily.

Four teams will participate in the women’s tournament, adding another competitive dimension to a championship that will also feature the country’s leading men’s beach soccer clubs.

The men’s Super Four will bring together Kada Beach Soccer Club, Kebbi Fishers Beach Soccer Club, Niger Beach Soccer Club and Ibom Beach Soccer Club in a round-robin format.

Each team will play three matches, with the side accumulating the highest number of points emerging as the 2026 NBSL champions.

The men’s action will begin on Friday with Niger BSC facing three-time champions Kebbi Fishers at 4:30 p.m., while hosts Kada BSC will meet Ibom BSC at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday’s fixtures will see Kebbi Fishers take on Ibom BSC before Kada BSC face Niger BSC, while the final day will feature Ibom BSC against Niger BSC and Kada BSC versus Kebbi Fishers.

Kada BSC enter the championship after topping the regular-season standings with 16 points from an unbeaten campaign. They also recorded the best defensive figures, conceding nine goals, while their 31 goals made them the highest-scoring team.

Kebbi Fishers bring considerable experience to the competition, having won the inaugural NBSL title in 2021 and followed it with championships in 2023 and 2024.

The three-time champions arrived in Kaduna on Sept. 13 and have been undergoing intensive preparations for the Super Four.

Niger BSC will make their first appearance in the Super Four after finishing third with nine points, with Hassan Abubakar emerging as one of the league’s leading performers after scoring 11 goals during the regular season.

Ibom BSC complete the championship line-up and will seek to challenge the established sides when the title race begins.

Beyond the competitions, the organisers have included an exhibition match between the NBSL All-Stars and SWAN All-Stars on the final day, providing an additional attraction for spectators and an opportunity to strengthen ties between beach soccer stakeholders and the sports media.

The Kaduna finals will also offer national team coaches an opportunity to assess players ahead of Nigeria’s Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Ghana.

With the introduction of the women’s tournament, the Super Four Finals will combine the men’s title race with a dedicated platform for female beach soccer, making the Kaduna championship a broader showcase of the sport in Nigeria.
