Weather Delays Push Regions Tradition Final to Monday Finish

Posted : 19 May 2025

The final round of the Regions Tradition, the first major of the PGA Tour Champions season, will conclude on Monday after multiple weather delays interrupted play on Sunday at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama. Jerry Kelly and Argentina’s Angel Cabrera are tied at 18-under-par, narrowly ahead of South Korea’s Y.E. Yang by one stroke as the tournament heads into its final stretch. Play is set to resume at 9 a.m. ET on Monday, with Kelly, Yang, and Charlie Wi on the 15th hole, while Cabrera and Steven Alker are on the 16th.

Heavy rain pushed back Sunday’s start to midday, and play was halted again due to storms before finally resuming at 3 p.m., though the leaders had yet to begin their rounds. As light faded, several players, including Kelly and Wi, expressed concerns to officials about visibility before play was officially suspended due to darkness. Cabrera had briefly taken the lead after an impressive stretch of birdies but slipped back into a tie with Kelly after a three-putt bogey on the 15th hole.

Elsewhere on the course, Stephen Ames completed his round with a 4-under 68 to reach 15 under, tying with Chris DiMarco for sixth place. Miguel Angel Jimenez carded the lowest score of the day, a 7-under 65, to move into a share of ninth at 13 under. With several contenders still in striking distance and holes left to play, Monday’s finish promises a tense conclusion to the delayed championship.
