Unbeaten Nigeria One Win Away from CAVB U-18 African Volleyball Title

Nigeria's boys' team moved within touching distance of the 2026 CAVB U-18 African Nations Volleyball Championship title after defeating Cameroon 3-0 in a commanding semi-final performance in Alexandria, Egypt.

The Nigerian youngsters produced another clinical display to record a straight-sets victory of 25-16, 25-20, 25-19, extending their unbeaten run and booking a place in the championship final.

The victory continued an impressive tournament campaign that has seen Nigeria lose just one set in five matches, underlining the team's dominance throughout the competition.

Nigeria began its title charge by topping Group A with three successive victories.

The team opened with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Morocco before overcoming hosts Egypt 3-1 in a fiercely contested encounter.

The group phase ended with another convincing 3-0 triumph over Burundi, ensuring Nigeria progressed to the knockout stage with a perfect record.

In the quarter-finals, the Nigerians maintained their momentum by brushing aside Libya 3-0 before repeating the feat against Cameroon in the last four.

Against the Cameroonians, Nigeria showcased its superiority with disciplined defence, effective blocking, powerful attacking play, and consistent serving to control the contest from start to finish.

The victory not only secured a place in the final but also reinforced Nigeria's status as one of the standout teams of the tournament.

With five consecutive wins and only one set conceded so far, the team is now just one victory away from completing an unbeaten campaign and lifting the continental title.

Nigeria will now shift its focus to the final, where the young spikers will be aiming to crown an outstanding tournament with the CAVB U-18 African Nations Volleyball Championship trophy while further demonstrating the country's growing strength in youth volleyball.
