Tyrone Ryan Maintains Lead in Blu Label Unlimited Challenge Despite Tough Second Round

Posted : 24 October 2025
Tyrone Ryan retained his lead in the Blu Label Unlimited Challenge after a challenging second round at Lost City Golf Club.

Tyrone Ryan held onto his lead in the Blu Label Unlimited Challenge on Thursday, adding seven points in a tricky second round at Lost City Golf Club to reach a total of 29 points overall. Despite maintaining top spot, Ryan faced a tougher test than in his opening round, where he collected 22 points at the Gary Player Country Club course.

The testing conditions allowed Yurav Premlall to close the gap, finishing just five points behind Ryan. Premlall produced the best performance of the day at the Gary Player Country Club, where he scored 13 points. The course holds fond memories for him — it’s where he won the Nedbank Junior Challenge as an amateur and claimed the Freddie Tait Cup as the leading amateur at the 2021 Investec South African Open.

“It’s one of my favourite events and venues of the year,” said Premlall. “The courses are softer this time, which makes it easier to make birdies. The format rewards aggressive play, so I’ll keep pushing to make as many birdies as possible. I’m looking forward to what the next two days will bring.”

Meanwhile, Hennie du Plessis continued his impressive comeback from injury, sharing third place with Anthony Michael on 23 points. Du Plessis, who has been easing back into competition, was pleased with his form.

A standout moment of the day came from Deon Germishuys, who made a spectacular hole-in-one on the 155-metre par-three 16th hole using a seven iron. His ace earned him a 50,000 Skybucks reward from Airlink, adding excitement to an already eventful second round.
