Top American Stars Gear Up for 90th Masters at Augusta

Five accomplished American golfers—Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka—made final preparations at Augusta National Golf Club on the eve of the 90th Masters. Each player has multiple major victories but has yet to claim the coveted green jacket, and this week’s firm and fast course promises a stern test of their precision and strategy.

Two-time major champion Schauffele, who won the 2024 British Open and PGA Championship, praised the speed of the greens, emphasizing the importance of disciplined play. He noted that avoiding three-putts and placing shots accurately are key to staying in contention. Schauffele enters the tournament in strong form, with top finishes at the Players Championship and Valspar Championship providing confidence heading into Augusta.

Collin Morikawa, a 2020 PGA Championship and 2021 British Open winner, continues to manage a back injury. He acknowledged the mental challenge of adapting his game while maintaining performance, focusing on alternative strategies to navigate the course and preserve his condition. Morikawa has been consistently strong at the Masters, finishing third in 2024 and in the top five in three of the past four years.

Justin Thomas, recovering from microdiscectomy back surgery last November, has returned to competitive play and gained momentum with recent top-10 finishes. Thomas expressed pride in his comeback and confidence in his ability to perform at Augusta despite the time off.

Brooks Koepka, a five-time major champion, highlighted his usual pattern of gradually peaking during major tournaments, while Bryson DeChambeau, ranked 24th, emphasized his balanced game and aims to improve on last year’s fifth-place Masters finish. Both players focused on precise shot-making and course management to contend on Augusta’s challenging layout.

As Augusta National prepares to host the 90th edition of the Masters, these American stars are all looking to combine experience, skill, and strategy to finally claim the elusive green jacket.
