After spending 15 months away from competitive golf, Tiger Woods is set to make his highly anticipated return in TGL Season 2, the tech-driven indoor golf league he co-founded with Rory McIlroy. The league announced on Monday that Woods will lead Jupiter Links Golf Club in their season debut on January 13, when they take on last season’s runners-up, New York Golf Club.
The 15-match regular season schedule also revealed that Woods and McIlroy will meet in a historic primetime Sunday showdown on March 1, as Jupiter Links face McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf. Jupiter Links will also play against Los Angeles Golf Club on January 20 and Atlanta Drive on February 2.
Each TGL team consists of four players, though only three compete per match. All matches take place in a high-tech, coliseum-style arena in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, which accommodates 1,500 spectators and features advanced simulator technology and immersive fan experiences.
The 49-year-old Woods last competed at the 2024 British Open at Royal Troon, where he missed the cut. Following that, he underwent surgery for a nerve impingement in his lower back and later required Achilles tendon repair surgery in early 2025—both part of a long list of injuries that have affected his storied career.
While Woods’ participation in the 2025 Hero World Challenge (December 4–7) or the PNC Championship alongside his son Charlie remains uncertain, his TGL appearance marks a major step toward a full comeback.
The new TGL season is scheduled to begin on December 28, opening with a rematch between reigning champions Atlanta Drive GC and New York Golf Club.
