Tiger Woods Returns to Valhalla: Fans Flock as Golf Icon Preps for PGA Championship

Posted : 14 May 2024

Tiger Woods consistently commands attention whenever he steps onto a golf course, a fact reaffirmed as crowds gathered eagerly to spectate his PGA Championship practice round at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky on Monday. Captivating footage and images captured Woods as he teed off at the par-5 10th hole, culminating in his final strokes at No. 18.

At 48 years old, Woods is poised to make his return to competitive play for the first time since his modest 60th place finish at the Masters in April. Despite his recent absence, Woods' legacy in the sport remains formidable, having secured a second-place finish in the PGA Championship as recently as 2018, albeit missing the tournament last year due to recovery from ankle surgery.

Valhalla holds significant historical resonance for Woods, as it was the site of his victory in the 2000 PGA Championship, where he clinched the title in a playoff against Bob May. This triumph marked the third consecutive win in what would later be celebrated as the "Tiger Slam," a remarkable feat in his illustrious career, which boasts a total of 15 major championship victories.

With the PGA Championship set to commence on Thursday, Woods is scheduled to engage with the media on Tuesday, sparking anticipation among fans and pundits alike for his return to the competitive arena.
