Italy’s Antonio Tiberi delivered a standout performance on Stage 3 of the 2026 UCI World Tour’s UAE Tour, winning atop Jebel Mobrah and moving into the overall race lead. The young rider attacked on the steep closing slopes to secure his first WorldTour stage victory and claim the red leader’s jersey.
Representing Bahrain Victorious, Tiberi managed to hold off a late challenge from Mexico’s Isaac del Toro of UAE Team Emirates-XRG, who crossed the finish line 15 seconds behind in second place. Belgium’s Lennert Van Eetvelt of Lotto-Intermarché completed the podium, finishing 14 seconds after del Toro.
The 183-kilometre stage began in Umm al-Quwain and concluded with the demanding ascent of Jebel Mobrah. Although several riders attempted breakaways earlier in the race, the decisive action unfolded during the final 13 kilometres of climbing, where the steep gradients caused the peloton to split.
Pre-stage favourite and former overall leader Remco Evenepoel of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe endured a difficult day on the mountain. Despite his strong performance in the previous time trial stage, the Belgian rider lost more than two minutes on the climb and surrendered the leader’s jersey. He now sits outside the top 10 in the general classification.
Tiberi’s decisive attack came with approximately four kilometres remaining. His move not only secured the stage win but also handed him a 21-second lead over del Toro in the general classification heading into the next stages.
With four stages still to be raced — including a sprint stage and another mountain challenge later in the week — the battle for the overall title remains open. Tiberi’s victory has intensified competition in this early-season World Tour event, as rivals prepare for further opportunities to gain time before the final summit finish at Jebel Hafeet.
