Belgian golfer Thomas Detry is set to switch from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf for the 2026 season, according to a report by The Times. Detry made history last February by winning the WM Phoenix Open by seven strokes, becoming the first Belgian to secure a PGA Tour victory. He is expected to join fellow Belgian Thomas Pieters on Dustin Johnson’s 4 Aces team.
The 32-year-old had a strong 2025 season, making 19 of 24 cuts and earning $3.6 million in prize money during his third year on the PGA Tour. Detry is currently ranked 57th in the world.
LIV Golf has also reportedly signed Australian talent Elvis Smylie, 23, who will join the Ripper GC roster led by fellow Australian Cameron Smith. Smylie, ranked 127th in the world, made two of four cuts on the PGA Tour and earned $76,605. He captured the 2024 BMW Australian PGA Championship, narrowly defeating Smith by two strokes.
Additionally, LIV Golf announced that English veteran Sam Horsfield will return to the Majesticks team, captained by Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood. The 29-year-old finished fifth at LIV’s inaugural event in 2022 and achieved his career-best second-place finish in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2024. Majesticks co-general manager James Dunkley praised Horsfield’s growing experience and potential to contribute points to the team, describing him as “integral” to the squad for the upcoming season.
The LIV Golf 2026 season is scheduled to kick off from February 4–7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
