Team Nigeria Taekwondo heads for Ghana

Posted : 13 March 2024

The Nigeria Taekwondo Federation contingent will depart from Nigeria to Ghana for the African Games, which will take place in Accra, Ghana.

The 18-member delegation, led by the President of the Federation, Ahl. Abubakar Saidu-Baba, will head to Accra to proudly represent Nigeria when the team begins their quest on the mat in the coming days.

Abdullahi Saidu-Baba, the President of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, believes that the final selection of athletes will bring honor to Nigeria.

"As far as I am concerned, based on my assessment of the team, the athletes are in high spirits, determined, and hungry to arrive in Ghana and make Nigeria proud."

"Our slogan for the team is 'Go for the Gold.' It's a battlefield, and everyone will be competing for the gold. I can vouch for my team that we will earn many Golds to show the world that Nigeria Taekwondo is at the top."

"We are not just participating in Kyorugi, but we are also participating in Poomsae and team Kyorugi. I want Nigeria to keep supporting us, and we will make them proud at the Africa Games."

The Team Head Coach, John Victor, echoed the sentiments of the President and believed that with all the efforts they have put in during the training sessions, Nigeria can expect to win many Gold Medals in Taekwondo.

"We are hopeful; it doesn't go bad in Taekwondo. We have a name to protect because we have been doing well in the past African Games. It's not going to be easy, but our target is to win as many Gold medals."

"Personally, we should not take it away from other countries because they are also coming to battle for medals, but I can assure you that Nigeria will do well in Ghana."
