Stefano Mazzoli Clinches Maiden PGA Tour Title with Dramatic Final-Hole Birdie

Italy's Stefano Mazzoli produced a thrilling finish to capture the Corales Puntacana Championship, sinking a birdie putt from just over 24 feet on the 18th green to claim his first PGA Tour victory. The 24-year-old closed with a six-under-par 66 to finish the tournament at 20-under 268, edging Gordon Sargent of the United States and England's Todd Clements by a single stroke.

Mazzoli completed an impressive comeback after trailing by four shots with only seven holes remaining. The victory marks the biggest achievement of his career and his first professional title since winning the 2022 Ein Bay Open on the Alps Tour. He also became a PGA Tour champion in just his third start on the circuit, continuing the momentum that saw him earn Asian Tour Rookie of the Year honours in 2024.

Overcome with emotion after holing the winning putt, Mazzoli described the triumph as a dream come true following a challenging year. The Italian said the victory was especially rewarding after the highs and lows he had experienced, adding that everything had finally come together at the perfect moment.

Clements looked set to force a playoff after holding a four-shot advantage with six holes to play, but costly mistakes on the back nine changed the outcome. A double bogey at the 13th and a bogey at the 16th left the Englishman needing a birdie at the last, but his 11-foot putt narrowly missed, handing Mazzoli the title.

With many of the world's leading golfers competing at The Open Championship, Mazzoli seized his opportunity in the Dominican Republic, delivering a composed final-round performance to announce himself as one of golf's rising talents.
