The Stallions wrapped up their campaign with a 19-12 victory over Ghana in their final classification match on Sunday in Port Louis, securing a respectable 7th-place finish.
Earlier in the day, Nigeria narrowly missed the chance to place higher after a closely contested 22-26 loss to Zambia in the classification rounds.
Nigeria began their campaign on Saturday with a 5-17 loss to tournament giants South Africa, but bounced back with an impressive 29-12 win over Burkina Faso. Despite a subsequent 7-14 defeat to Zambia, the Stallions advanced to the quarter-finals.
However, the quarter-final clash against Kenya’s Moans proved too tough, ending in a 43-12 defeat, which pushed the Stallions into the classification bracket.
Injuries to key players also hampered Nigeria's chances throughout the tournament.
Despite the setbacks, this 7th-place finish marks a notable improvement from last year’s campaign, where Nigeria placed 11th, just one spot from the bottom.
Meanwhile, South Africa's Blitzboks capped off their brilliant performance with a 28-12 victory over Madagascar in the final to claim the championship title. In the bronze medal match, Zimbabwe stunned Kenya 21-19 to secure third place in the competition.
