Shane Lowry Wins Irish Open by Record 11 Strokes at Doonbeg

Shane Lowry produced a stunning final-round 63 to win the Irish Open by a record 11 strokes at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg on Sunday. The Irishman finished the tournament at 23 under par, comfortably ahead of joint runners-up Patrick Reed and Joaquin Niemann, while breaking the previous record for the largest winning margin.

The victory ended Lowry's four-year wait for an individual title, with his previous success coming at the BMW PGA Championship in 2022. It also gave the 39-year-old his second Irish Open crown, 17 years after he won the tournament as an amateur in 2009.

Lowry had already made headlines earlier in the week by setting a course record of 62 on Friday. His dominant display at Doonbeg surpassed Bernhard Langer's previous Irish Open record of a 10-stroke winning margin, set at Portmarnock in 1987.

US President Donald Trump watched Lowry complete his victory at the course, which he owns, and later joined the trophy presentation. Trump had arrived at Doonbeg during his visit to Ireland and praised Lowry's performance after watching him sink the final putt.

Lowry, the 2019 Open Championship winner, dedicated much of his post-round celebration to his family after a difficult season. He said he was looking forward to taking the trophy home to his wife and children, describing the victory as a spectacular and unforgettable week.
